Memorial Walkway - Neahwa Park
Opened May 28, 2010
Dedicated May 31, 2010
The City of Oneonta has developed a
Veteran's Memorial Walkway that has reconfigured the monument area in Neahwa Park.
The walkway replaced an unsafe and unneeded vehicular
roadway with a pedestrian path that
has created an improved an beautiful setting for several
existing memorials honoring area veterans.
Ultimately, as the plan is envisioned, the walkway will
also connect several recreational facilities in a
comprehensive seven mile, multi-use trail along the
Susquehanna River.
The Memorial Walk features
walkways, pavers, relocated and new monuments, lights,
benches and the planting of deciduous trees. The project
will be
completed in several phases.
