Law enforcement is our business, but crime prevention is your business!

There are a lot of excellent resources out there on the web that you can use to make Oneonta a safer place.  The Police Department stands ready to assist you with any questions you may have, and offers special services listed under workshops in the menu to the left.

The New York State Police provides a great collection of publications and webpages that cover a wide variety of subjects - see http://www.troopers.state.ny.us/Crime_Prevention  - all of this information is public-domain and freely usable for any non-profit purpose.

The National Crime Prevention Council maintains a very good site with current news items, downloadable brochures, lists of programs, training opportunities and other resources.  See http://www.ncpc.org.

About.com also has an extensive collection of crime-prevention topics available at http://crime.about.com/od/prevent/Crime_Prevention_and_Safety.htm.  This information is sourced from lots of different places but is generally of good quality.
