Search warrant yields arrest and drugs seized

Pursuant to an ongoing investigation into illegal drug activity, on Tuesday, December 16, 2008, at approximately 11:30 p.m., the City of Oneonta Police Department Detective Division, the New York State Police Southern Tier Community Narcotics Enforcement Team (CNET), and the Otsego County Sheriff’s Department Investigations Division executed a search of a motel room at the Town House Lodge Motor Inn located at 318 Main Street in the City of Oneonta, NY.  The search warrant, issued by the Honorable Walter L. Terry, III, authorized the search of room #58.

Seized as a result of the search warrant was:

• 2034 packets of Heroin were found and seized, with an aggregate weight of over 2 ounces and with an estimated street value of $40,000.

• $6,884.00 in cash.

• A small quantity of crack cocaine and marijuana were also seized as a result of the search.

Arrested were the following three individuals:

1. Keith A. Torres, 18 year old, Bronx, N.Y.

2. Adam R. Sanchez, 17 year old, Bronx, N.Y.

3. Jose R. Manuel, 30 year old, San Juan, Puerto Rico.  

All three men were charged with 2 counts each of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 3^rd degreed which is a Class B Felony punishable by up to 9 years imprisonment for each count. 

All three were arraigned in Oneonta City Court by the Honorable Walter L. Terry, III, and remanded to the custody of the Otsego County Sheriff’s Department in lieu of $125,000 cash bail or $250,000 bond each.
