James
Koury has been the City Clerk of the City of Oneonta since
December 1992. A native of the City of Oneonta, James Koury
resides in the Sixth Ward. James Koury attended the State
University of College at Oneonta from September 1978 to May
1979. He then transferred to the State University of New
York at Albany in September 1979 and attended same until his
graduation in December 1982. Upon completion of his
undergraduate studies, Mr. Koury attended the State
University of New York at Buffalo and received a Master of
Urban Planning (MUP) Degree in May 1985. Upon completion
of his graduate studies, Mr. Koury's employment history
includes positions with the City of Buffalo Planning
Department; the Community Heritage Company, a not-for-profit
Rural Preservation Company located in Gloversville, New
York; the Capital Hill Improvement Corporation in Albany,
New York; and the Saratoga Associates, a landscape
architecture, architecture and planning firm located in
Saratoga Spings, New York. Mr. Koury is a Past President
(2000-2001) of the New York State Association of City and
Village Clerks (NYSACVC), served as Treasurer (1998 - 2000)
and is currently Editor of "The Bulletin," the Association's
membership newsletter. Koury is also the Secretary of the
Association.
Koury is also the on the Board of Directors of the Catskill
Center for Independence. Mr. Koury has received the NY
State Clerk's Associations's award of RMC (Registered
Municipal Clerk) and has been designated by the
International Institute of Municipal Clerks (IIMC) as a CMC
(Certified Municipal Clerk) and has entered the entry level
MMC Academy. He also was named the New York
State Association of City and Village Clerks' 2004 Clerk of
the Year. |
