Richard P. Miller, Jr. is the
20th mayor of the City of
Oneonta,
New York.
Prior to this he was the ninth President of Hartwick
College. This was after a three-year tenure as Vice
Chancellor and Chief Operating Officer of the State
University of New York, which itself had followed a
13-year tenure, first as Vice President and Senior
Counsel to the President of the
University of
Rochester, and later as Senior Vice
President and COO at that institution. Mr. Miller has
for many years served as a Trustee of Hobart and
William
Smith
Colleges.
His considerable business acumen had been brought to
bear in academic settings and in the world at large,
having served as President and CEO of Case-Hoyt, with
which he had been affiliated from 1974 through 1987.
Having graduated from
Middlebury
College with a B.A. in Sociology, Mr. Miller served in
the U.S. Army, returning to civilian life in 1967 a
decorated
Vietnam veteran.
